MDIA 2205 - Assignment 2

For this assignment, we were tasked to use the dreaded 'frames' in which to create a simple site. My goal was to use them in a way that they didn't look like the UGLY frames of old. I also wanted to work on image slicing and CSS image based rollovers. The end result was not too bad, although I would have liked to come up with a better menu.

Postscript: I later developed this very menu for my first assignment of MDIA 3207.

MDIA 2205 - Assignment 3

For this assignment we were to demonstrate the use of CSS inheritance. My idea was to create a mockup of a Web Designer's site. For this, I searched several sites and looked for elements of each that I liked. In the end, I used elements from:

I took snapshots of their sites and entered them into Photoshop where I cut each site into 'block' pieces. These blocks were then added to a mockup of a site and merged into a semi-transparent background. I then added new layers for my own site which were similar but not identical to these 'blocks'. Once done, I then performed a PSD to HTML conversion to end up with the final site.

MDIA 2205 - Assignment 1

For this assignment, we were to create a form. We were allowed to use CSS/DIV's and possibly a bit of Javascript if we wanted. As a result, I put a LOT of effort into this assignment.

I eventually found/wrote some Javascript to animate the form a bit, and later found a jQuery slideToggle I incorporated into the assignment. After the course, I found a snippet that modified the cursor when you rolled over the toggled element.

MDIA 2205 Assignments

This course is titled "Weaving the Web: Publishing on the Internet 2", and builds from what we learned in MDIA 1206. My assignments can be found below:

I really liked this course, as each assignment was significantly different than the last. One big advantage to this course over MDIA 1206 is that we weren't restricted with the use of HTML tags and CSS. I even added a bit of jQuery to my first assignment.

I ended up with an a final mark of 96% in this course.
